RDC has been a major supplier of dosimetry services to people whose work may expose
them to radiation since 1949. These services include the distribution of various
radiation detection monitoring devices to and from the clients, and the analysis,
report and record keeping of personnel dose. These services allow RDC customers
to determine personnel exposure to occupational and environmental radiation hazards
in the workplace.
Accreditation
RDC is accredited to provide dosimetry services with National Voluntary Laboratory
Accreditation Program (NVLAP)
which is part of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). NVLAP Lab Code 100512-0.
Licensing
RDC is licensed by the State of California, Health Services Department*, Radiologic
Health Branch for radiation instrument calibration and collection/analysis of leak
test (swipe) samples.
*The Radiologic Health Branch is within the Food, Drug, and Radiation
Safety Division of the Department of Health Services. The Branch enforces the Radiation
Control Laws and Regulations designed to protect the public, radiation workers,
and the environment. It is responsible for providing health functions associated
with administering a radiation control program. This includes licensing of radioactive
materials, registration of X-ray producing machines, certification of X-ray and
radioactive material users, inspection of facilities using radiation, investigation
of radiation incidents, and surveillance of radioactive contamination in the environment.
