Radiation Instrument Calibration
|
RDC offers calibration services on portable radiation survey meters as required
by the U.S Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Agreement States. RDC maintains a diverse
inventory of sources to meet the requirements of most instruments and manufacturers.
This includes alpha, beta, and gamma sources. All calibrations are traceable to
NIST.
RDC offers calibration services with two-week turn around. 24 hr and 48 hr
Rush Analysis services are also available upon request.
RDC is licensed by the Radiologic Health Branch of the State of California’s
Department of Health Services to calibrate radiation detection instruments as a
commercial service. A two week turn around is consistently maintained. Rush calibration
services are available.
Instruments and dosimeters receive a calibration label indicating the serial number,
calibration date and due date. Calibration frequencies can be established by the
customer and RDC will provide notification when the calibration date is approaching.
Reports are provided indicating the calibration date, isotopes and exposure or count
rates used, and the instrument response following any required adjustment.
Count Rate Survey Instument Calibration
Electronic pulsing for up to 4 scales/ranges, two points per scale/range recorded
with efficiency determination for one detector referenced to one radionuclide, as
specified.
Exposure Rate Survey Instrument Calibration
Calibrated to 137Cs including up to 4 scales/ranges, with two points per scale/range
recorded.

Sealed Source Wipe Test Analysis
|
|
Compliance with U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission requires recurring leak testing
of sealed sources and contaminated areas. To assist users in meeting these requirements,
RDC provides Leak Test Analysis and Contamination Survey kits for clients licensed
to sample their own sealed radioactive sources or surface areas.

New automated readers offer precise sample counting and reliable two week turn-around.
Rush Analysis services are also available upon request.
RDC is licensed by the Radiologic Health Branch of the State of California’s
Department of Health Services to collect and analyze leak test samples.
Leak test analysis services are available to all users of radioactive sources including
medical, industrial, research facilities and operators of gauging devices. RDC offers
analysis for alpha, beta and gamma sources.
RDC’s wipe test analysis kit contains easy-to-follow instructions and all
of the materials necessary to perform leak tests on sealed radioactive sources.
Samples are returned to RDC by mail for analysis. A leak test certificate is issued
showing the results of the analysis.
