DSO In Need of Dental Radiation Safety Program To Reduce Liability

Designing a Radiation Safety Program

In 2018, a nationally recognized Dental Services Organization (DSO) with over 700 locations in 30 states recognized a trend. Adding new practices rapidly to their already large organization they saw disparate safety practices across their portfolio.

They wanted to implement a high standard radiation safety program to protect their employees and their company. Because of that they reached out to Radiation Detection Company (RDC), the leading provider of radiation safety services to multi-site healthcare practices.

Problem

Partnering with Radiation Detection Company

RDC began with a portfolio risk assessment for the organization. From those findings they collaborated with the customer to choose between two possible program designs to achieve the program objectives at minimal cost.

Solution

Quick Onboarding

Earlier in the process the customer was concerned about how over 700 locations could be migrated to RDC’s service without issue. However RDC’s model involves assigning a dedicated onboarding team. This level of attention resulted in transitioning all 700 locations in 2 days without an operational impact.

Outcome

Reducing Risk for Employees and the Company

With an RDC radiation safety program in place, now over 2,000 employees who interact with radiation have their exposure monitored. Having this gives them peace of mind since they are aware of any possible issues. At the corporate level, there is visibility into the compliance of the entire portfolio. Therefore the company as a whole is not exposed to liability for wrongdoing at any one location.

Partnering for Growth

Since partnering with RDC, over 100 new locations have been added to the program smoothly and more are being added each month.
